VéloSoleX 6000

Description

The type shaft-driven VéloSoleX 6000 is genuine – it is not, as some might believe, a Flash. Complete with an electric horn and a centre stand, this vehicle is V5 registered. Since 1946, the VéloSoleX company had been making just one model – the black SoleX. During the 1960s, the company designed the all-new Flash moped as their replacement for the SoleX, which had an unconventional pressed-steel monocoque frame with a 1.4bhp engine housed inside, with the shaft-drive to the rear wheel, and a rear disc brake. Key design faults were never truly solved, and the company was soon inundated with warranty claims. An improved Flash, the model 6000, was launched in 1972, but it was too late – neither the Flash nor the 6000 were commercially successful enough, and the company was sold to Renault and Motobécane in 1974.
